The dynamics of the heart in complete A-V block; an angiocardiographic study.

چکیده
The conduction disturbances in atrioventricular block are well known from numerous electro-cardiographic studies, but the effect on the heart work, especially on the individual chambers, could not be recorded before the introduction of visualization of the heart chambers by angio-cardiography. Rapid biplane angiocardiography with simultaneous electrocardiographic yields information on cardiac dynamics not available by procedures with a purely static anatomic perception. IN complete atrioventricular block the atria and ventricles contract independently and the relationship of the atrial to the ventricular contractions is always changing. This type of dissociation offers a unique opportunity to study the mode of action of the atria and the ventricles independently and in various combinations.

Hyperkalemia-induced complete heart block
Background: Potassium, as an extracellular ion, plays an important role in the electrophysiologic function of the myocardium and any change in extracellular concentration of this ion might have a marked impression upon myocyte electrophysiologic gain. High serum potassium levels are thought to impair pulse conduction in Purkinje fibers and ventricles more than that in the Atrio...
متن کاملComplete heart block and itchy rash in a patient with COVID-19
Background: The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has become a global crisis, as the World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 as a global pandemic. Complete heart block, resulting from an abnormal heart rhythm, is a rare presentation of this infection, which can be life-threatening due to possible progression into ventricular tachycardia. Case Presentation: We report a c...
متن کاملComplete Congenital Heart Block in a Neonatal Lupus Erythematosus Associated with Pulmonary Involvement without Pacemaker Implantation: A Case Report
Background: Neonatal lupus erythematosus is an uncommon disease. Congenital complete heart block (CCHB) usually happens in neonates with maternal systemic lupus erythematosus. The most prevalent presentation of CCHBis bradycardiathatcanbediagnosed through an electrocardiogram. Case report: Here in, we present the case of a full-term male neonate with gestational age of 37 weeks and birth weigh...
متن کاملMitotic Block of Human Blood Cells by Vinca herbacea, Catharanthus roseus and Colchicine Alkaloids
Catharanthus roseus (L.) G.Don is a plant which produces anticancer and anti-mitotic indole alkaloids. Colchicine is an anti-mitotic drug. Anti-mitotic effects of Vinca herbacea Waldst. & Kit. indole alkaloids is unknown. The study were evaluated the antimitotic effect of alkaloids of V. herbacea, Catharanthus roseus andcolchicineon mitosis and microtubule arrangement of human blood cells. In t...
متن کاملPerformance of electrophysiologic study in an asymptomatic patient with type 2 intermittent Brugada syndrome: To do or not to do?
Background: Brugada syndrome (BrS) is an inherited channelopathy, which is associated with sudden cardiac death due to rapid polymorphic VT or VF. There is no definite consensus regarding the management of asymptomatic patients. Some experts advocate close follow-up; others propose the programmed stimulation for risk stratification. We aimed to evaluate the benefit of complete atrial and ventri...
